Donald Trump to Be Interviewed by FBI in Assassination Attempt Investigation

Former President Donald Trump has agreed to an FBI interview as part of the ongoing investigation into the assassination attempt on his life earlier this month in Pennsylvania. This development, disclosed by a special agent on Monday, highlights the resilience and determination of Trump amid threats to his safety.

Investigation Details

The FBI stated that the interview with Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, is a routine part of their protocol when investigating crimes involving victims. Despite the harrowing experience of being struck by a bullet or a fragment during the July 13 assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump continues to show unwavering strength and commitment to his campaign.

“We want to get his perspective on what he observed,” said Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office. “It is a standard victim interview like we would do for any other victim of crime, under any other circumstances.”

Donald Trump’s Shooter Profile

Through around 450 interviews, the FBI has created a profile of the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks, a 20-year-old described as “highly intelligent” but reclusive, had limited social connections outside his family. Investigators have yet to determine his motive for targeting Donald Trump, but they believe the attack was meticulously planned.

Planning and Execution

Crooks’ preparations included purchasing chemical precursors believed to be for explosive devices found in his car and home. He also deployed a drone near the rally site hours before the event and searched online for information on mass shootings, improvised explosive devices, power plants, and the attempted assassination of Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico.

On July 6, the day Crooks registered for the Trump rally, he googled: “How far away was Oswald from Kennedy?” referring to Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassin of President John F. Kennedy.

Family Cooperation

Crooks’ parents have been “extremely cooperative” with the investigation. They claimed no prior knowledge of their son’s plans, and the FBI has found no reason to doubt their statements. Most of Crooks’ planning was conducted online, according to the FBI.

Despite the attempt on his life, Donald Trump remains undeterred and continues to campaign vigorously, showcasing his resilience and dedication to his supporters. The FBI continues to investigate the incident, seeking to understand the full scope of Crooks’ intentions and any potential threats that may arise from this case.
